This is the mixed media piece in this colour pattern, which was created by layering a woodcut print** homemade paper that was made by Bob Hainstock using Bay of Fundy seaweed.

** Woodcut prints are created by carving an image into a wooden/MDF plate, then rolling ink over the plate and transferring the image onto heavy paper using a printing press.  The result is an original piece of artwork that has the modern appeal of a screen-printed piece but with a more uniquely embossed texture.  Some prints can look more like oil paintings depending on the printing and inking techniques used.  To learn more about the printmaking process, check out our XXXX page.
